Supporting Local Youth Through Our County Fairs
At Yoder Pallet Company, supporting the communities where our employees live and work is important to us. This year, our teams in Points, West Virginia, and Swanton, Maryland, had the opportunity to support local students participating in their county fairs through 4-H and FFA livestock projects.
Hampshire County Fair
Leading up to the Hampshire County Fair, our Points, WV location received more than 20 letters from local students sharing information about their livestock projects and inviting businesses to support the annual sale.
We were grateful for the opportunity to attend the sale and support several students through the purchase of three animals: a market goat, a market hog, and a market steer.
The market goat was donated back to the student so it could continue to be used for breeding, helping support the student's project beyond this year's fair.
The hog and steer were processed, and the meat was distributed among employees at our Points location. Employees recognized as quarterly Core Value Award winners also received additional steaks and higher-end cuts as part of that recognition.
This gave us an opportunity to support local students while also sharing the results of that support with the employees who make Yoder Pallet Company what it is each day.
Garrett County Fair
Our Swanton, Maryland team also received several letters from students participating in the Garrett County Fair.
Yoder Pallet Company attended the livestock sale and purchased a market steer in support of a local student's project. Like the animals purchased through the Hampshire County Fair, the steer was processed and the meat was distributed among employees, with additional cuts provided to Core Value Award recipients.
Investing in the Communities Around Us
The work and dedication that young people put into 4-H and FFA projects throughout the year deserves recognition. These programs teach responsibility, agriculture, animal care, leadership, and the value of seeing a project through from beginning to end.
We are thankful to have the opportunity to support students in both Hampshire County and Garrett County and to play a small part in encouraging the next generation of hardworking young people in our communities.
We appreciate every student who took the time to send us a letter and share their project with our team.
Yoder Pallet Company looks forward to continuing to support our local fairs, 4-H and FFA participants, and the communities surrounding our Points and Swanton locations for years to come.
